74HC164 is an 8-bit serial-in / parallel-out (SIPO) shift register IC from the high-speed CMOS (HC) family. This product is made by STMicroelectronics (ST), which offers it as M74HC164, in a DIP-14 package under order code M74HC164B1R. It shifts serial data on each clock pulse to 8 parallel outputs and is widely used to expand microcontroller outputs and to drive LEDs and displays. It is pin and function compatible with the standard 74HC164.
